Abstract

In this paper, tuning and optimizing of a control system for a greenhouse lighting application is studied. PID controllers as one of the most common types of controllers in industrial and practical applications have been discussed by researchers and engineers for long period. Nowadays, usage of electrical energy for artificial light production in greenhouse environments is very common. Optimal and economic control of artificial lighting in greenhouse environments based on price of electricity is one of the key points in control engineering. In smart grid, by Real-Time Pricing (RTP), the price of electricity can be changed time to time. Proper determination of PID controller coefficients considering RTP in the smart grid can provide effective performance of artificial lighting system in the mentioned application. In this work, we provide the design and simulation results to verify a significant improvement of executive values in the control system. ฉ 2013 IEEE.
