Abstract
In the present work, the single-phase heat transfer of water flowing through the multiport minichannel heat exchanger was experimentally studied. The inner tube was made from the extruded multiport aluminum tube with hydraulic diameter of 1.1mm and the 14 number of channel, while the outer tube was made from the acrylic circular tube with an internal hydraulic diameter of 25.4 mm. The singlephase heat transfer performance is experimentally determined based on the water-to-water operation. The experiments have been carried out by varying flow rates and temperatures of water on both sides. The Reynolds numbers were approximately 500-4000 on the inner tube and 1000-5000 on the outer tube. The LMTD method was employed to investigate the heat transfer and the experimental results were compared with the existing correlations from the literature. Finally, the Nusselt number correlation for single-phase flow of the water flowing through the multiport minichannel has also been proposed. Copyright ฉ 2012 by ASME.
