Abstract

Polysulfone (PSf) was functionalized via a sustainable way by grafting maleic anhydride (MAH) in the presence of dicumyl peroxide (DCP) without organic solvent medium. Influences of MAH and DCP content and reaction temperature and time on grafting degree were investigated. The degree of grafting (GD) was estimated by Fourier Transform Infra pectroscopy (FTIR). The GD was found to increase up to a maximum value and then to decrease with an increase in MAH and DCP content. The results also demonstrated that an increase in reaction time and tempera ure causes an increase in the GD. By Differential Scanning Calorimetry (DSC) analysis, it was found that the glass transition temperature (Tg) of grafted PSf was lower than that of pure PSf. ฉ 2013 American Scientific Publishers All rights reserved.
