Abstract

The performance analysis of degradation caused by mobility on the cooperative MIMO downlink communication in LTEAdvanced (LTE-A) is conducted. The analysis is based on two cooperative schemes, amplify-and-forward and decodeand- forward with using of LTE-A relay downlink standard. An analytical model for evaluating the impact of mobile velocity in cooperative MIMO scheme is provided. In simulation, the MIMO cooperative network is composed of a base station, a relay node and user equipment. The effect of the user equipment motion around the relay node with different mobile velocities in cooperative MIMO communication is measured. In addition, the Rayleigh fading channel model is used in the simulation. The performance of cooperative MIMO for LTE-A downlink is presented in terms of signal-to-noise ratio (SNR) and bit error rate. The simulation results show that the performance of cooperative communication in term of SNR can be significantly improved using cooperative MIMO but the increment of the mobile node velocity on cooperative MIMO has caused the degradation of system performance.
