Abstract
This paper presents a design of uncompensated secondary topology wireless power transfer (WPT) system to address the output power variation problem in series-series (SS) topology when operating at high frequency with small load. In addition, a less distorted primary current is obtained. The designed primary zero phase angle (ZPA) frequency can be achieved by the use of proposed primary compensation capacitor calculation. The important advantages of the proposed design includes less component count and complexity of the WPT system with an increased power transfer capability compared with the SS topology. The proposed method can be used with small load with less distortion on the primary current. Theoretical and simulation analysis have been carried out to investigate the validity of the proposed method. The experimental result from the 50 W laboratory prototype circular magnetic structure at 6 cm air gap compared to SS topology can validate the design proposed. ฉ 2016, Institution of Engineering and Technology.
