Abstract

This paper presents a monitoring system for tracking the performance of fine extractor in tapioca starch production process. The unit performance can be improved by the operators if they can monitor. State space model representing the starch extractor, was used for estimating starch and pulp inputs by using starch and pulp outputs. The extractor outputs were measured to calculate the extraction performance. The proposed method was tested with a pilot scale conical screen fine extractor and simulated by MATLAB/SIMULINK. The result showed that the monitoring method yielded the accuracy of 94.0% and 98.4% for starch extraction and pulp removal efficiency, respectively. ฉ 2015 IEEE.
