Abstract

In biogas process, the feed composition and concentration highly affect methane production therefore the kinetics of anaerobic reaction are quite complex and nonlinear. The research aims to control methane production rate in bioreactor by Total Volatile Acids and Alkalinity. The estimation of methane production rate derives from linear equation of Total Volatile Acids and Alkalinity. Reaction volume of 10.78 l and feed concentration of glucose syrup solution within the range of 40-70 wt% were used. The simulation results showed that methane production rate could be tracked and controlled by manipulating feed rate. The error of estimated methane production rate was approximately 2 percent. ฉ 2016 IEEE.
