Abstract

This paper presents a model predictive control of a resonant inverter with LLC load configuration. The targeted application is an induction furnace. The proposed control requires neither phase-locked loop control nor PI tuning since the LLC load model is used to predict future current values for the load. An objective function is formulated such that a proper operating frequency reflecting the targeted current to the load is obtained. The Spike current on the switching devices caused by load parameter variation at Curie's temperature has been eliminated by a phase limit control. The proposed controls have been validated through computer simulation and experiment. With the proposed predictive control, the experimental results of heating a 300-gram Tin from room temperature until its melting point at 232 ฐC are provided. ฉ 2017 IEEE.
