Abstract

The main purpose of this paper is to present a simple design strategy to synthesize an adaptive sliding controller capable of stabilizing an electric power system with static synchronous compensator (STATCOM) and improving the transient stability of the system. In this study, the developed control scheme is tested on a single-machine infinite bus (SMIB) power system with STATCOM and some unknown parameters in the face of a symmetrical three-phase short circuit fault. Simulation results show that in spite of having a simple design procedure, the developed controller offers better transient performances in comparison with some existing nonlinear controllers. ฉ 2017 Praise Worthy Prize S.r.l. - All rights reserved.
