บทคัดย่อ

Anodic aluminum oxide (AAO) is a self-organized nanoporous structure containing a high density of uniform cylindrical pores. The cylindrical pores are aligned perpendicular to the surface of the materials and self-arranged into a hexagonal array. The uniformity of pore and the ordering of hexagonal structure have a relationship with electrochemical conditions such as voltage, temperature, type and concentration of acidic electrolyte. The usual characterization method of AAO templates is using Scanning Electron Microscope (SEM) and Fast Fourier Transformation (FFT) equation. However, there are inappropriate to be used for short range ordering AAO temples, there are limitations in characterization. Therefore, this study proposed an alternative quantitative characterization method for studying the short range hexagonal ordering. The uniformity of AAO templates affects on the homogeneity of fabricated nanostructures. Image processing method and ImageJ software are employed to study the uniformity and the hexagonality of AAO through area distributions, number of neighbors, and angles. In this study AAO were tested by varying the concentration of oxalic acid (0.1M, 0.3M and 0.5M) at a constant voltage (50V). The results show that 0.3M oxalic acid solution has the highest hexagonality. In addition, a 99.999% aluminum foil were compared with a 99.45% aluminum foil to study the hexagonality by using our alternative methods. These alternative methods have a potential to characterize both of the short range and the long range hexagonal ordering AAO templates. ฉ 2017 Author(s).
