Abstract

This paper presents a detection method for speed bumps using Gaussian mixture model. The model based on stripe pattern of speed bump is applied to segment it from road and various environmental backgrounds. Morphological closing operation is then performed as a post-processing to complete speed bump area. In the experiments, both day and night conditions are tested. The experimental results show that the proposed method can detect the bumps efficiently. ฉ 2017 IEEE.
