Abstract

This paper presents the design and implementation techniques for an embedded device and computer co-operative system. The system is mainly designed for real-Time industrial measurement, analysis, and control applications. The embedded device, the microcontroller, can stream real-Time data to the computer up to 11520 bytes per second. In the embedded device side, four channels of ADCs and PWMs are implemented to fully evaluate and examine the real-Time ability and data transfer capability. The computer, which is a HMI application, communicates to the MCU using standard serial port. It receives the ADC's data and displays on the screen continuously. Also the computer periodically sends data to the MCU to update the duty ratio of the PWMs. The experimental results show that the microcontroller and computer can exchange their data with highspeed, full-duplex without any error. This implies that they can work in the industrial real-Time applications as expected. ฉ2017 IEEE.
