บทคัดย่อ

Cylindrical lithium ion (18650 Li-ion) batteries are commonly found in electric vehicles and energy storage technologies due to safety and manufacturing simplicity. This paper introduces methods to investigate heat generation due to entropy change, which is one source of internal battery heat generation. A simplified approach is presented to reduce the complexity of entropy change measurement processes. Both experiments and simulations are required to obtain heat generation due to entropy change. First, the temperature profile of a LiCoO2 battery is experimentally investigated to be referenced for simulation. Then, an entropy change measurement is substituted by a trial and error process to fit the temperature behavior curve based on calculations. The results agree well with the experimental temperature profile. The accuracy can be improved by increasing the number of intervals in heat generation due to the entropy change function added in simulation. In addition, this approach can be implemented for diverse battery types which can be used for cooling design. ฉ 2018 IEEE.
