Abstract

This paper presents the wireless device location estimation in indoor 2D environment. The proposed method is developed using the widely used log-distance path loss model and actual Received Signal Strength Indicator (RSSI) measurement. Initial parameters are obtained from wireless module specifications and known empirical data of various environments. The path loss exponent is adjusted to better fit the calculated RSSI profile to the measurement profile. It is found that the proposed method provides the average difference of 7.42% from the measurement, which is considered acceptable for location estimation in actual environment. ฉ 2018 IEEE.
