Application of CDIO Initiative on High-Skill Workforce Development to Reduce Losses in Production Process

The technician who works in industry is an important manpower who mainly supports operator in term of machine service. The good service affects to reduction of breakdown time and production loss. Application of the CDIO initiative on high-skill workforce development, to reduce losses in the production process, is proposed in this paper. Based on CDIO process, high-skill workforces or technicians were trained to think in deep both theory and practice in order to develop problem solving and systematic thinking skill. Implementation and results are presented in this paper. And it shows that the CDIO initiative is a powerful tool not only for engineering education but high-skill workforce development also. Production loss reduction is represented and this is one of key performance index for indicating an effectiveness of training.
