Abstract

The 21 st Century has brought unprecedented changes, especially during the COVID-19 pandemic. Employees in the workplace are no longer rely on formal classroom trainings or traditional suggested online and offline courses from Human Resources Development to re-skill and up-skill themselves. Employees need to stand on their own to take the initiative in diagnosing their learning needs, formulating learning goals, identifying the need of material resources for learning, choosing and implementing appropriate learning strategies, and evaluating learning outcomes for themselves which all these essential processes adopted from the concept of self- directed learning (SDL). Therefore, self-directed learning appears to be an essential characteristic to keep up with the demand of war of work. As there is no brief, absolute, and precise instrument currently available to measure learner self-directedness in the workplace, this paper has studied and obtained the consensus from a panel of experts on the content validation of self- rating of self-directed learning (SRSSDL) whether this measurement tool can be efficiently applied with employee in the workplace.
