Abstract

This research presents the examination timetabling for each semester in a case study collage. The objective of the research is to set an examination timetable that balance the workloads of all examiners as much as possible. This research uses a nonlinear mathematical programming method for problem-solving and uses What's Best software to find the optimal answer under some complex constraints. The examples of these constraints are such as many groups of the student must take an exam on the same subject on the same examination period and day, each exam should be continued for 2 hoursand rest 1 hour before the next exam. The additional research objective is to simplify and quicken timetable decision making by using Microsoft Excel worksheets to input the data and display the answer. The research results show that the balance of the examiners' workloads is increased by 97% and planning time is reduced by 88% when compared to the existing planning approach.
