Abstract
The project aims to study the flammability and the combustion behavior of the off-gas from the activation process of the activated carbon production from biomass raw material in the laboratory scale crater bed with C. Gigantic Carbon Co., Ltd. as the project partner. By-product gas is a lean mixture of combustible gases (lean mixture) that is not combustible by conventional combustion unit. By the intensive heat recirculation that is a distinctive feature of the crater bed, it makes the gases with these characteristics to ignite and burn continuously. The project has two main research methodologies as follows: (1) to survey and evaluation of characteristics; (Production rate and composition) of off gas from activated carbon activation process of C. Giantic Carbon Co., Ltd., Nakhon Ratchasima Province and (2) to study the flammability and combustion behavior of simulated off gas. The main outputs of the project are (1) the pollutant data from the activated carbon activation process; (2) the off-gas combustion behavior that can be published in the form of an academic paper; and (3) the laboratory scale reactor using the intensive heat circulated particle bed technique for low-grade fuel gas. The company can establish the application of the off-gas from the pollution data, the off-gas potential.
