Abstract
Lighting is one of the most essential workplace environment as it has a direct effect on visual performance and also the health and well-being of the workers through circadian rhythms (non-image forming effects of light). At the same time, lighting is one of the largest electricity use in office buildings. Thus, energy-efficient lighting, particularly the integration of daylight and electric lighting, can provide users with visual comfort and health benefits. However, daylighting in the tropics has several challenges, including sky glare and heat gain. This research aims to study how the changing workplace for the future (post-COVID) affects the space and lighting requirements and to develop lighting innovation that integrates daylight and advanced LED technology. This is a 3-year research and involves field research and experimental study to ensure that the results can be applied in real-world situations.
