Abstract
The main problems in conventional charging system for autonomous mobile robot are the down time when it is charging, long charging time, and cannot install charging station in the working path. Thus, this research presents wireless charging system for autonomous mobile robot based on the electromagnetic induction between coils. Transmitter coil is placed at the floor, which is the normal route of working robot. Receiver coil is installed within the robot. This can charge the robot while it is working and does not block the working path. In proposed system, the optimal coupled coil is designed, resonant circuit is adopted, and high reliability control technique is introduced. Therefore, high efficiency charging system is achieved and the charging time is reduced, even when there is the misalignment between the coils. The proposed system is tested by autonomous mobile robot in the actual working environment. The presented research can solve the existing problems in conventional charging system, add the value to robot, and create the knowledge of design, implementation, and test of the wireless charging system for autonomous mobile robot.
