Abstract
This research aims to study road safety action and
coordination problems for mitigating road accidents by using
accidents at the horizontal curve section near Soi Pracha Uthit
119, Bang Mod, Thung Khru, Bangkok as a case study. At the site,
there were two motorcycles departing the curve twice within
four months. The first accident occurred on December 2nd, 2021.
Therefore, many officers needed to come together to analyze
the cause of the accident in order to find a solution to the
problem. Unfortunately, on March 16th, 2022, a similar accident
occurred again before the problem had been fixed. The causes
of these two accidents were the motorcyclists themselves, the
geometry of the roadway curve, a lack of traffic control devices,
and insufficient roadway lighting. We found that there was only
basic investigation, and therefore the problem would not be
solved urgently. This case study would be used as a guideline
for road safety action plan and coordination to other
organizations.
