INCREASING EFFICIENCY OF THE TRUCK HEAD PAINTING PROCESS

The purpose of this research was to increase efficiency of painting process of Isuzu Motors Company (Thailand) Limited or “IMCT” Truck, by improving touch up process for continuous production process and reducing the defects. It was found that there were several wastes in the production line, including waiting jobs and high volume of defects at the touch up process, causing delay in the delivery time. The experimental research was divided into 2 parts continuously. In the first part, the booth was expanded in the touch up process to reduce the bottleneck and reduce man hours in the system, resulting in an increase in production rate or Job per hour (JPH), which was 3.70 JPH before expanding the booth, and after the booth expansion was 6.13 JPH, which corresponded to an increase by 2.43 JPH (65.67%). Next, the motivation technique called the Key Man system was implemented, which is a unique system of Thai Rung Union Car Public Company Limited for reducing defects in the process, which increased the production rate (JPH) to 12.23 %. After both improvements were executed, from February 2022 to April 2022, total efficiency had been increased for 3.18 JPH which was about 86.05%.
