Abstract
The aim of this research was 1) to prepare the waves in the string misconceptions test and 2) to study misconceptions on waves in the string of the 11th Grade. The research samples are 80 students of the 11th Grade in 2020 academic year at Bodindecha (Sing Singhaseni) 4 School, Bangkok. The research instrument is the misconception test that the Cronbach's alpha statistic reliability was 0.94. The data were analyzed by calculation for percentage of understanding level. The results were found 1) students interpret the wave images that had different amplitude, speed and frequencies correctly average representing 83%, 43% and 97%, respectively. It was found that most students had misconceptions in interpreting images of waves with different speed. 2) Students understood the factors affecting amplitude, speed and frequency, averaging representing 83%, 67% and 88% respectively. It was found that the students had the most misconceptions about the factors affecting speed. 3) Students who have misconceptions in interpreting the wave images or misconceptions in the factors affecting the amount of waves will not be able to do the applied wave problems.
