Abstract
A project on community biomass electricity generation plants involves setting up of electricity generation plants, of which communities participate in the operation. Community enterprise or networks of such enterprises then serve as partners in the generation as well as distribution of electricity generated in each plant. To obtain the basic information needed for preparation of a strategic policy involving setting up of such community plants, the Thought Forum on Energy, The Academy of Science, The Royal Society of Thailand, in collaboration with the School of Energy, Environment and Materials, King Mongkut’s University of Technology Thonburi, held a brainstorming session on this theme. The objective of the session was to obtain viewpoints of experts from various disciplines as well as to collect, analyze and make recommendations to responsible governmental organizations. This article presents summaries of the presentations, along with policy recommendations as well as those for further research based on the results of the meeting.
