Abstract

Abstract

Developing routine work into research (Routine to Research: R2R) is using research as a tool to create knowledge and lead to the development of routine work.  The research results obtained will be used to develop routine work for the better.  And it is a tool for developing people, developing work, and driving the organization towards a learning organization.  This research study had two important objectives: 1) to study the needs to develop routine work into research for support personnel within the Faculty of Industrial Education and Technology, King Mongkut’s University of Technology Thonburi and 2) to find ways to promote and support the development of routine work into research (R2R) of support personnel in the faculty. The research employed a descriptive research method and a target group was 45 support personnel. Data was collected through an online questionnaire with closed-ended questions, and analysis was conducted using descriptive statistics, including frequency, percentages, means, and standard deviations.

The research results found that most of the support personnel were female, 66.7%, 36.7% were in the age range of 30-40 years, 20% were general administrators, 83.3% were employees, 56.7% belong to a field of study, and 56.7% belong to a field of study, and 56.7% had a master’s degree. 53.3 have 10-20 years of service, 33.3%, 80% of personnel had a desire to do R2R, with the most common reasons being developing one’s own potential and creating new knowledge on one’s own Accounting for 76.9%.  While the reason most people didn’t want to do R2R was that they had too much regular work and therefore no time to do it.  Accounting for 69.2%, the result found that needs to be developed in knowledge and understanding in R2R was analysis or determination of problem topics, Creating and selecting tools Interpreting results, analyzing data, summarizing results, and writing project proposals for budgets were at a high level (  = 3.85, S.D. = 0.79). Personnel want the organization to support factors in developing R2R work, including materials, equipment, and budgets for research development, and take R2R results into consideration in evaluating performance in each round were at a high level (  = 4.22, S.D. = 1.75). In terms of disseminating R2R results, personnel intend to present them at national academic conferences. Accounting for 30%, followed by presentations at international conferences Accounting for 23.33% and no wanting to publish the work, accounting for 23.33%

The findings suggest several guidelines to promote and support the development of routine work into research (R2R) for support personnel. These include inviting experts to share their knowledge, allocating time for discussions among support staff about research issues, arranging mentors to provide advice on R2R research, supporting budgets for conducting research, facilitating the submission of research articles for presentation at academic conferences or publication, and incorporating R2R contributions into performance evaluations in each round.
