Abstract
This research aims to create and test the speed control program for modified electric car based on the driving cycle profile and using PID control technique. The modified electric car using original suspension and transmission systems to the internal combustion engine car, with an open body design. The car is equipped with brushless DC motors with power rating of 5 kW and 10 kW for comparing the controllability when it has different traction powers. The car is powered by 9.6 kWh lithium-ion nickel manganese oxides battery. The speed control system is created based on LabVIEW software, and testing based on the WLTP driving cycle. The Results indicate that the speed of the car can be controlled well within the tolerance ±2 km/h and ±1 second. However, in some instances, the excess speed and time control parameters are appeared. These excesses are also increased according to the size of the motor's power. Because the modified electric car doesn’t have regenerative braking system, the created control system then could not work well for deceleration controlling. But work well for acceleration controlling.
