Abstract

Invisible Breath is a journey through contemporary painting that explores the impact of air pollution—particularly PM 2.5—on the lives and traditions of people in Southeast Asia. This body of work reflects the fragility of human existence amid rapidly expanding urban landscapes, shrinking forests, and skies no longer clear. The changing atmosphere has become a silent threat, gradually consuming the body, the mind, and cultural heritage. Through mixed-media painting, I present a personal interpretation of toxic air as it manifests in feelings of suffocation, silence, tension, and even a numb acceptance among people who have come to live with pollution as part of their daily routine. This series does not merely ask, “What are we breathing in?”—it goes further to question, “What remains of our traditional ways of life when clean air is no longer free
