The COVID-19 pandemic accelerated the shift to online learning, creating new challenges for communication and intercultural interaction among students. In Thailand, the diversity of learners in online General Education (GE) courses highlighted the need for better preparation in online communication skills. This research project aimed to examine the components and difficulties of face-to-face and online communication, investigate instructors' and students' experiences with online learning, design an online training program to enhance students' communication skills, and assess the effectiveness of the program. The project followed three phases: needs analysis, lesson design, and evaluation. Data were collected through online surveys, interviews, pre- and post-tests, and satisfaction surveys. Findings from the needs analysis showed challenges in communication, cultural understanding, and engagement. Lessons were designed based on these findings and implemented through a short online training program. The evaluation results indicated an improvement in students’ communication skills and high satisfaction with the program. The project highlights the importance of targeted communication training for online learners in diverse classrooms and suggests practical directions for future online education improvements.
