Abstract
This research aimed to 1) study and analyze problems in the quality inspection
process of MLT gold jewelry products 2 ) develop standardized and comprehensive
operational manual for quality inspection and 3) To investigate the effectiveness of the
implementation of a quality assurance system. The research employed a research and
development methodology, collecting data through document analysis, in-depth
interviews, and participant observation. Data were analyzed using Pareto charts and
Fishbone diagrams. The findings revealed that 1) the main problem was a high product
rejection rate of 10.85%, with the primary cause being uneven polishing surfaces (45%),
which stemmed from a lack of inspection standards and employee skills; 2 ) the
developed operational manual consisted of six main sections: product types, jewelry
categories, inspection equipment, inspection methods, quality requirements, and
operational workflow diagrams, with comparative illustrations of "pass" and "fail"
examples; 3) after implementing the manual, the rejection rate decreased to 1.56%, and
the types of defects reduced from 15 to only 2 types, representing an 86.67% reduction.
This research demonstrates that developing clear standards and operational manuals
can significantly enhance quality inspection effectiveness and reduce product rejection
rates.
