Abstract

This research is the approach to construct the sensor system for detecting and identifying the fault of control surface of small UAV during the flight. The fault of elevator is considered in 3 types that is the actuator failure, the linkage failure, and the surface failure. Three kinds of compact sensors, i.e. the bending angle sensor, the force sensor, and the current sensor, are selected. The outputs of these sensors in normal and abnormal condition of elevator have been observed to verify the feasibility of fault detection and identification. For its part, in this paper the experimental results in case of elevator linkage failure with recovery by using aileron as flap are shown. ฉ 2011 SICE.
