Abstract
This research aims to study on the obstructed and required competence of skills development trainers, Department of Skill Development. Sample group covered by this research was consisted of 267 trainers in charge at Regional Institute of Skill Development and Provincial Skill Development Center over the country. According to self-developed questionnaire, the research finds out that knowledge & skills and attitudes are moderate obstacles to trainer's competence. While required competence in knowledge & skills and attitudes for trainers are very demanding. Obstacles to competence and required competence are different with a .01 significant level. In aspect of obstacles to competence in knowledge & skills recognized by respondents' status, respondents have difference in opinions, with a .05 significant level. In aspect of obstacles to attitudes, respondents with difference in position have difference in opinions of good services, ethic, and team based with a .05 significant level. In aspect of required competence in knowledge & skills, coaching technique and practice innovation & materials are different with a .05 significant level. While required competence on attitudes, respondents who has difference in experience express differently in good services at significant level of .05.
