บทคัดย่อ

This quantitative research aimed to: 1) study the personal factors affecting television viewing behavior of children and 2) study television viewing behavior affecting ethics and morals of kindergarten children. The sample was 400 kindergarten students, aged 5-6 of K1 and K2, in Bangkok Metropolis kindergarten schools drawn by random sampling using Yamane Table with the reliability of 0.95. The tool was a set of questionnaire with the reliability of 0.87. The statistic for data analysis included percentage, mean, 2, one way ANOVA.The results of this research were as follows:Different levels of parent education, status of parents, salary of parents and kind of living had an effect on the television viewing behavior of children. The children whose parents living together watch TV for 1-3 hours, watch TV on Monday-Friday evening (04:01-07:00 p.m.), on Saturday - Sunday morning (06:00-12:00 a.m.), and watch cartoons. The children whose parents had the level of education lower than a bachelor's degree watch TV for 1-3 hours. The children whose family income is lower than 10,000 baht watch TV for 1-3 hours and those whose family income is higher than 30,000 baht watch TV less than 1 hour.The children watching TV less than one hour had higher level of morals and ethics than those watching TV 1-5 hours. The children watching TV through digital system had higher level of morals and ethics in terms of honesty and acceptance of misbehavior of themselves and of others than those watching TV through analogue system and through cable TV such as UBC. The children watching TV on Saturday and Sunday afternoon (12.01-16.00 p.m.) had higher level of morals and ethics than those watching TV at other times.
