Abstract

This proposed research proposes the design and development of a robotic arm for rehabilitation and training. This wearable robot arm can easily be used with either the user’s left or right arm. Each joint of exoskeleton motion can be rotated from −90° to 90° which cover all motions of human arm. The virtual reality technique is used to provide the 3D graphics to motivate the patient during the rehabilitation. The designed robot arm will support the patient’s arm during rehabilitation or training which is a repetitive task over a period of time. Furthermore, this exoskeleton arm can be utilized for training purpose. © Springer Nature Singapore Pte Ltd. 2017.
