Creating A State of Well-Being for A Mixed-Use Building

The site and location of this project have several limitation conditions for the building design. It is located as part of an open-air concrete piling factory which operates 24 hr. The land is parallel to the superhighway that has 12 lanes. It is a situation that sandwich between the express highway and the factory production plant. Living among noise pollution from both sides is a critical factor that designers must consider significant.

Moreover, the geometry of the site is rectangular shape. The longest side of the land is the East and the West orientation. Therefore the sun path is along the most extended area of the building. Since the building is part of the factory ground, the plot needs green space to support a comfortable human living condition. Therefore, this project focuses on design, considering three focus points: reducing noise pollution, finding the appropriate tropical design, direct sun path, and increasing the green volume by blending into several pathways inside the building. The simplicity of the façade derives from the prefabrication of concrete plates as the primary material on the façade design. It could pull out the strong character of the owner company as being the concrete solution company. The application of pattern and modular on the façade would spell the concept of simple design. The expression of being “humble” and fit the context of being a concrete factory is critical. However, once the user gets inside the building into the residential zone located on the 4^th, 5^th, and 6^th Floor, there is an unveiling of unexpected living experiences with “home perception.” As “the typically home living that takes place on ground” could have a perception, inside this residential zone has as well. It is a hiding dimension that only the family member could experience as “an oasis of living” in the heart of factory ground.
