Abstract
This research aimed to study and compare current conditions and expectations of pre-service teacher students. The sample group was 141 pre-service teachers in the field of Computer Engineering, Department of Electrical Education, King Mongkut's University of Technology Thonburi in academic years of 2016-2020. The sample size of the population of 220 people was derived from the Taro Yamane formula at 95% confidence levels. A survey questionnaire, with Item–Objective Congruence (IOC) Index between 0.67-1.00 assessed by 3 experts, was used to collect data. The statistics used in the research were descriptive. Based on the analysis results, it was found that pre-service students had a good perspective on teaching practicum experiences gave them a greater understanding on teacher work systems, if students get assistance from both teachers and colleagues. However, some of pre-service students were assigned to certain types of work that are not suitable for teaching practicum experiences, and as a result, it may impact on their attitude on being a teacher. The expectation of most pre-service students is that the training can develop their knowledge and skills to be a good teacher as well as the ability to solve problems that may arise in the teaching process on their own. In addition, the Covid-19 pandemic situation has had a profound impact on teaching training and observation. They also need to understand the readiness in terms of their learning equipment to study online.
