Abstract

The effects of BA on improving the postharvest quality of Mokara 'Nora Pink' was investigated by pulsing with distilled water (control), 200 mg/L HQS + 2% sucrose (HQS+SU) and 200 mg/L HQS + 2% Sucrose + 100 ppm BA (HQS+SU+BA). Mokara stems pulsed with HQS+SU+BA suppressed and delayed ethylene production while combination treatments (HQS+SU and HQS+SU+BA) had little effect on respiration rate of flowers. Treatments of HQS+SU and HQS+SU+BA gave similar results in fresh weight, water uptake, and bud openings to the control treatment. Mokara 'Nora Pink' responded positively to BA by improving the display quality of flowers after harvest.
